One of our large herd of Buck, with baby

Our herds of Blesbok are free roaming, and mow the lawns round the chalets at night

Buck at the dam, late afternoon

On quiet days the buck will often stay near the chalet area

Duiker in Chalet gardens in the early mornings

There are several resident duiker which check out the gardens in the mornings and early evenings

Steenbok in the grass above the dam

Steenbok are a little more shy and will only be spotted in the daytime as you walk round the property and come near to them

One of the Blesbok herd leaders

There are several of these magnificent animals leading different herds on the property

There are two Meerkat Colonies at Greystone

The meerkat colonies are easy to spot but, unless you are very lucky, you will need to sit quietly on one of the rocky knolls overlooking them for some time before you see any meerkat moving

Jackal at the Waterhole

Since this is a nature reserve we of course have a range of predators who help keep nature in balance. The jackal is the largest of these but you will be very lucky to see one of these very shy animals

Blesbok at the Waterhole

Our Trailcam lets us know what is moving around the property, without disturbing the wildlife. At night it takes infra-red flash photos

Baby Blesbok & Bird

The young blesbok can sometimes be very curious, as they explore a new world

Sacred Ibis

A wide variety of birds live on and around the property. We have recently completed a hide overlooking the marsh for bird watchers

Fish Eagle on the Willow Tree

The fish eagle helps keep the trout population under control. Unfortunately.

Heron searching for Frogs

There are always a large variety of birds in and around the wetlands here

Babmbi - a Duiker orphan with a guest

Now and then we come across stray and orphaned animals - we raise them by hand with a view to releasing them back into the wild as soon as we can

Red Bishop

Flocks of these will be seen in the grassy areas near the dam during the summer

Egyptian Goose

We have breeding pairs of egyptian geese here that raise yound every year

Cape Robin

Very territorial, these guys will give you a hard time if you stray into their home ranges!

Masked Weaver

Weaver birds live in most of the trees around the chalets and dam - the cherry tree behind chalet 1 is always bald on its top as the weavers strip off leaves to make room for their nests

Sunbird in the Garden

In the summer these beautiful birds investigate the flowers in our gardens

One of our smaller residents......

New mum with new baby

Quite a large number of newborns joined the Blesbok herds this year
